To complement a hilariously weird TV campaign to promote Old Spice’s new hair products, in which a man’s hair leaves his head with a mind of its own, we created a humorous web experience to further extend the campaign into the digital world.

Our task: create a fully-embeddable multi-browser site that gave users the opportunity to type in their favorite Huey Lewis and the News song, and then watch the hair play away.

Production involved a live action shoot, with a very talented pianist wearing a green sleeve and a wig fixed to his hand, playing 29 different Huey Lewis songs, generating over 10 minutes of unique content for arm removal and CGI post work.

The web build posed the challenge of creating a smooth segue between segments to give the appearance of a seamless on-demand video.  The solution involved creating multiple video players where we could toggle visibility to create seamless “cuts” between the intro, loop, prompts and songs - so when one player is playing the loop the other player would load the video and swap when ready; and an AWS server with over 500 video clip versions.
