GE x NY Times “The Nature of Industry”

Virtual Reality (VR)

2016

About

To launch the New York Times VR channel, Framestore was tasked with creating a 360 VR film for General Electric, that would combine both entertainment and education.

Framestore was challenged with creating an engaging visual story that could be supported on any device. “The Nature of Industry” takes its design cues from the newspaper - literally unfolding into dazzling environments - to detail the concept of technological biomimicry. The carefully constructed animation provided a stunning but relatable touchpoint for viewers first experiencing this new format.

The experience received the Grand Prix award in mobile at the 2016 Cannes Lions Festival, among others.
